Support-Rail Shafts

Attached support rails prevent bending or bearing misalignment under moderate to heavy loads. Pair with linear bearings to create smooth, precise motion. These linear shafts are turned, ground, and polished to tight tolerances and hardened to resist wear.

Steel—Stronger than aluminum and stainless steel. These shafts are best for dry environments since moisture will cause them to rust.

Highly Wear-Resistant 440C Stainless Steel—Balancing strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, these shafts can handle moisture and mild cleaning solutions.

Lightweight Ceramic-Coated Aluminum—Lightweight and corrosion resistant with an ultra-hard, slippery ceramic coating for wear resistance. Even contaminants such as weld spatter, molten glass, and paint won't stick to these shafts. While the coating is hard, they have a soft core, so they should be used with linear sleeve bearings to avoid denting the shaft.

Surface Smoothness—The lower the microinch value, the smoother the finish and the less friction it will cause on the bearing.

Made of lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum, they are designed for use with linear shafts and bearings. Cut to size or mount end-to-end to make longer lengths. Mounting holes match those on our Shafts for Support Rails; attach using socket head screws (not included).

Build-Your-Own Support-Rail Shafts

Choose a shaft and a matching support rail in the profile you need to create a custom setup for your machine’s layout. Tapped holes drilled along the length of these shafts match up with holes on support rails for quick alignment and setup. The support rails prevent bending and bearing misalignment under moderate to heavy loads. Pair these shafts with linear bearings to create smooth, precise motion. They are turned, ground, and polished to tight tolerances and hardened to resist wear.

Cut the support rails and shafts to size or mount them end-to-end for long runs. Then, align the mounting holes on the shafts with those on the rails and fasten them with socket head screws (not included). After assembly, test for alignment to guarantee smooth motion.

Low-Profile Linear Shaft Support Rails

At approximately one-third the height of standard versions, these rails provide linear shaft support in applications with low vertical clearance. They provide stability over the entire length of shaft and eliminate bending under moderate to heavy loads. Made of lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum, they are designed for use with linear shafts and bearings. Cut to size or mount end-to-end to make longer lengths. Mounting holes match those on our Shafts for Support Rails; attach using socket head screws (not included).
