    About Wire Sleeving
    industrial info icon

Select the right sleeving to protect your wires against heat, abrasion, corrosion, and impact.

    Interference-Shielding Expandable Wire Sleeving

Protect wire and cable from signal distortion caused by nearby equipment and devices. Expandable, this sleeving stretches to fit over items for easy installation, then tightens around its contents for a secure fit. The braided construction permits heat and moisture to dissipate. This sleeving is also used to insulate and organize wire and cable. Cut to size with sheet metal snips.
    Aluminum
Image of Product. Front orientation. Wire Sleeving. Interference-Shielding Expandable Wire Sleeving, Aluminum.
Aluminum sleeving is about one-third the weight and reflects more heat away from its contents than copper sleeving. However, it doesn’t resist as much signal interference.

Aramid Fabric with Tin-Plated Copper Shield
Image of Product. Front orientation. Wire Sleeving. Interference-Shielding Expandable Wire Sleeving, Aramid Fabric with Tin-Plated Copper Shield.
Aramid fabric sleeving combines the benefits of copper and aluminum sleeving. It’s shielded with copper foil to resist high amounts of signal interference, while the aramid fabric weighs half as much and reflects more heat than copper alone.

    Interference-Shielding Wraparound Wire Sleeving

Use this shielded sleeving to protect wire and cable from signal distortion caused by nearby equipment and devices. A sewn-in ground wire dissipates any stored charge. It provides good protection against abrasion. Wrap it around wire and cable without disconnecting them; sleeving has a slit along the entire length.
    Overlap Closure
Image of Product. Front orientation. Wire Sleeving. Interference-Shielding Wraparound Wire Sleeving, Overlap Closure.
Sleeving with an overlap closure wraps over itself and stays closed without an adhesive strip or other closure, so it can be removed and reused.
Polyester Fabric—Polyester fabric sleeving has good abrasion and tear resistance.
Copper-Wire Shield—Sleeving with copper wire shielding is ultra-flexible, so it’s good for applications that require tight turns.

    Adhesive-Strip Closure
Sleeving with an adhesive strip closure is permanently sealed when the adhesive is applied.
Polyurethane Rubber—Polyurethane rubber sleeving provides excellent resistance to solvents, oil, and grease.
Foil Shield—Sleeving with foil shielding is for use in stationary applications. Repeated flexing will damage the foil.
Conductive-Cloth Shield— Sleeving with conductive cloth shielding can withstand continuous motion without tearing or fraying. It’s often used to protect wire, cable, and hose in robotics and other automated applications.
UL 2556 VW-1—Flame rated VW-1 sleeving meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test with vertically suspended material.

    Interference-Shielding Tape Wire Sleeving

Image of ProductInUse. Front orientation. Wire Sleeving. Interference-Shielding Tape Wire Sleeving.
With a copper and nickel exterior and conductive lining, this sleeving shields your wire and cable from signal interference. Use it near equipment that creates signal distortion, such as transformers, generators, and motors. It’s made of polyester taffeta cloth, so it’s light and flexible. Plus, its coating resists corrosion.
You can wrap this sleeving like tape around wire and cable while they’re installed, so it’s great for emergency patches. When wrapping, make sure it overlaps itself by half its width. This ensures 98% shielding coverage to keep your components protected.

    Interference-Shielding Heat-Shrink Tubing

Image of Product. Front orientation. Heat-Shrink Tubing. Interference-Shielding Heat-Shrink Tubing.
A layer of conductive cloth protects wire and cable from signal interference caused by nearby equipment and devices. This tubing is often used to cover a terminal where an existing shield has been stripped for a connector. For a tight seal over irregularly shaped objects, it shrinks down to a quarter of its original ID.
Note: For proper grounding, a conductive wire or braid strip (not included) should be wound around the outside of wires or attached by conductive epoxy (not included) prior to shrinking.
Dielectric Strength—Dielectric strength is the maximum voltage a material can handle before it starts to breakdown. The higher the dielectric strength of a material, the better it is for preventing electricity, heat, or signal from dissipating from wire and cable.
