    Coupling Nuts

Image of Product. Front orientation. Coupling Nuts. Coupling Nuts.
Also known as extension nuts, these are commonly used to connect lengths of threaded rod and join threaded parts.
    Low-Strength Steel
Rated Grade 2 or lower, these are about half as strong as medium-strength steel coupling nuts. Use them with threaded rods that have a comparable strength rating to avoid stripping threads during installation.
Zinc-Plated Steel—A step up from plain steel, the zinc plating withstands occasional exposure to moisture.
Black-Oxide Steel—A dark, matte coating creates a finished look. Nuts offer minimal corrosion resistance, so they're best for dry environments.
Hot-Dipped Galvanized Steel—Combines the strength of steel with the rust resistance of stainless steel. These nuts are an economical alternative to 18-8 stainless steel in wet and outdoor environments, but they won't hold up to salt water and chemicals. Use with other hot-dipped galvanized fasteners to ensure the threads mate tightly.

    Corrosion-Resistant Stainless Steel
18-8 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor environments, these nuts resist rust. However, they won't hold up to the harsh chemicals that 316 stainless steel can.
Highly Corrosion-Resistant 316 Stainless Steel—The most corrosion-resistant stainless steel coupling nuts we offer, these hold up in just about any environment. They won't degrade from exposure to weather, salt water, and most chemicals.

    Brass
Brass—With a warm, polished look, these nuts are often chosen for their appearance. Similar to 18-8 stainless steel, brass is corrosion resistant enough to stand up to wet environments. It is also softer than other metals, so it's easier to thread together.

Change thread sizes or types, such as fine to coarse threads, on parts without changing gender. These adapters can also be used as standoffs to position components in assemblies and to create space between parts. They have an external hex, so you can tighten them with a wrench.
Black-Oxide Steel—Black oxide steel adapters have a finish that matches the aesthetics of your system and won’t chip or rub off. They resist rust better than plain steel in indoor and dry environments. However, they will corrode outdoors.
Aluminum—At about a third of the weight of steel adapters, aluminum adapters are the lightest we offer. They resist corrosion in wet environments.
18-8 Stainless Steel—18-8 stainless steel adapters resist corrosion in wet environments but will corrode when exposed to salt water and chemicals. They may be mildly magnetic.
316 Stainless Steel—316 stainless steel adapters are for use in wet environments and have the best corrosion resistance. Unlike 18-8 stainless steel adapters, they resist corrosion caused by salt water and chemicals. They may be mildly magnetic.
ASTM A108, ASTM A276, ASTM A582, and ASTM B211—Adapters that meet ASTM specifications are made from or plated with materials that adhere to specific standards for chemical and physical properties, such as hardness.

Connect two differently sized male-threaded parts, such as threaded rods, and tighten with a standard wrench. The threads on these adapters have various sizes and spacing, so you can increase or decrease thread size or adapt from coarse to fine threading. You can also use them to change the gender of a connection from male to female. Small adapters can work as threaded standoffs, which position and separate circuit boards and other components in assemblies.
Black-Oxide Steel—Black-oxide steel adapters have a finish that won’t chip or rub off. They match the aesthetics of many systems and resists rust in indoor and dry environments.
Zinc-Plated Steel—Zinc-plated steel adapters resist corrosion until the plating wears away and are often used in dry environments.
Aluminum—Aluminum adapters are about one third of the weight of steel adapters and resist corrosion in wet environments.
18-8 Stainless Steel—18-8 stainless steel adapters withstand wet environments but will corrode when exposed to salt water and other chloride solutions.
316 Stainless Steel—316 stainless steel adapters are ideal in wet environments and will not corrode when exposed to salt water or harsh chemicals.
ASTM A108, ASTM A276, ASTM A582, ASTM B211, and ASTM B633—Adapters that meet ASTM specifications are made from or plated with materials that adhere to specific standards for chemical and physical properties, such as hardness.

    Round Coupling Nuts

Image of Product. Front orientation. Coupling Nuts. Round Coupling Nuts.
Less bulky than hex coupling nuts, these have a smooth, round body that fits in tight spots. Their finished appearance makes them a common choice for decorative applications. Tighten by hand, or use soft-jaw pliers to avoid marring the outside surface. Also known as extension nuts, they are commonly used to connect lengths of threaded rod and join threaded parts.

Image of Attribute. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Thread Adapters. Inch-to-Inch Male Hex Thread Adapters.
Need to join two female-threaded parts, such as coupling nuts, with dissimilar inch thread sizes? Attach them to these adapters and tighten the exterior hex nut for a secure connection. You can also use these adapters to change the gender of a mating part from female to male, increase or decrease the thread size, or convert the threads from fine to coarse (and vice versa). The smaller adapters act as threaded standoffs, positioning and separating circuit boards and other components in assemblies.
Black-Oxide Steel—Choose black-oxide steel adapters to match the aesthetics of your system or for their mild corrosion resistance. The finish won't chip or rub off. They resist rust in indoor and dry environments, but avoid using them in corrosive environments.
Aluminum—At about a third of the weight of steel adapters, aluminum adapters are the lightest we offer. They resist corrosion in wet environments.
18-8 Stainless Steel—18-8 stainless steel adapters resist corrosion caused by water. They're good for wet and damp environments but will corrode when exposed to salt water and other chloride solutions.
316 Stainless Steel—316 stainless steel adapters have the best corrosion resistance. They stand up to wet environments, just like 18-8 stainless steel adapters, but unlike 18-8 stainless steel adapters, they resist corrosion caused by salt water and harsh chemicals.
ASTM A108, ASTM A276, ASTM A582, and ASTM B211—Adapters that meet ASTM specifications are made from or plated with materials that adhere to specific standards for chemical and physical properties, such as hardness.

Add permanent threads to thin metal with our go-to weld nuts. Unlike press-fit and rivet nuts, these nuts fuse to the base metal, so they won’t twist and pull out. Three evenly spaced projections concentrate heat away from the threads to prevent them from deforming and create consistent welds. All have a collar pilot that guides the nut into the hole, holds it in place while welding, and protects the threads from weld spatter. You can also install them on thick pieces of metal.
Steel—Best for dry environments since moisture will cause them to rust. Made of uncoated steel, these nuts require minimal prep. Weld them to uncoated steel surfaces.

Slightly taller than standard-profile hex nuts, these have a larger gripping area so your wrench or socket won't slip off as you tighten them. They're often used in vehicles and machinery where fasteners can be difficult to reach.
    High-Strength Steel
Rated Grade 8, Grade C, or Class 10, these nuts are about 25% stronger than medium-strength steel nuts. They are commonly used to fasten components in valves, pumps, motors, and other high-stress applications. To avoid stripped threads during installation, make sure your screw has a comparable strength rating.

Adapt your shaft to a threaded end without having to machine threads onto your shaft. These adapters have a threaded end that mounts into tapped holes or can be used for threaded accessories, such as mixer propellers or fan blades. To attach these adapters to your existing shaft, tighten the clamping screws for a firm, even grip that won’t damage shafts. Made of steel, these adapters balance high strength and good machinability, making them ideal for general purpose use. They have a black-oxide finish that resists rust but should be used in primarily dry environments.
