    Scribers with Base

Image of Product. Front orientation. Scribers. Scribers with Base.
Also known as surface gauges, use these to scribe lines, transfer measurements, or as height and depth gauges. They have a V-groove base that can be used on round or flat surfaces.
Gauge pins can be pushed down for use against the edge of a surface plate or T-slot for linear work.

    Surface Roughness Testers

Image of Product. Front orientation. Surface Roughness Testers.
These units test for the most popular parameters, such as Ra, Rp, and Rq. You can also set an upper and lower limit for go/no-go readings, or test for a specific standard, such as ANSI, ISO, JIS, or VDA. Testers can save up to 10 readings and can take 1,000 readings on a single charge. The touch screen makes it easy to set up and review readings. They have an RS-232C port for a direct connection to your PC.
Use the SPC data output cable (sold separately) to connect your tester to a Mitutoyo miniprocessor.
Cannot Be Sold To—Testers cannot be sold to the listed areas due to energy efficiency regulations.

    Gloss Meters

Image of Product. Front orientation. Gloss Meters.
Confirm that each product is as shiny as the last. These meters measure the gloss of paint and coatings as well as metal, ceramic, and granite surfaces.
Meters with a 20°, 60°, and 85° field of view are compatible with a free app that lets you use your Android device to start and stop recording and send data using Bluetooth.
60° Field of View—Meters with a 60° field of view can evaluate the gloss of most standard, semi-gloss surfaces.
3 ft. Long USB Cord—All meters come with a USB cord to transfer data to PCs.
Calibration Block—These meters come with a calibration block, and you should calibrate them before each reading. Lay the block on a flat surface and press the calibration button on your meter. Position the meter on top of the block, and your meter will calibrate.
Field of View—Meters with a 20°, 60°, and 85° field of view can evaluate low-gloss/matte and high-gloss surfaces in addition to semi-gloss surfaces—their gloss measuring range is 10 times as broad as meters with only a 60° field of view.

    Coating-Thickness Gauge Inspection Kits

Image of Product. Front orientation. Thickness Gauges. Coating-Thickness Gauge Inspection Kits.
With three included probes, the gauge in these kits goes beyond a typical check for coating thickness. It also measures surface profile and environmental conditions, such as temperature. Kits include everything you need for thorough tests whether you’re inspecting a surface that’s painted, powdered, or plated. Just swap out probes to measure what you need. Use the plate and shims to practice measurements and ensure the probe is working properly. The glass plate and metal shims work with the surface profile probe. The plastic shims work with the coating thickness probe. Easy to use, the gauge’s touch screen guides you through measurements step-by-step.
Switch between scan modes for full control over how you measure, from single-point tests to continuous readings. You can even find stats and create presets for repeated measurements. For long-term tracking, the gauge stores up to 250,000 results from multiple probes in up to 1,000 batches. See trends in real time with live graphing. To help you comply with ISO, ASTM, SSPC-PA, and IMO coating standards, set criteria for go/no-go tests.
Thanks to a compatible app, you can add notes and images to readings or make reports on the go. For exporting into programs such as Excel or making multimedia reports in templates, use the included software.
Choose kits based on coating and surface types.
Built-In Probe—A built-in probe lets you use the gauge one-handed—no extended probe to maneuver.
Removable Probe with 3 ft. Cable—A removable probe means you can measure underwater and up to 3 ft. away. The waterproof probes are at the end of sealed cable, so you can reach surfaces without submerging the gauge.
For Nonconductive Coatings—Kits with probes for both nonconductive and nonmagnetic coatings include a thickness probe that automatically identifies the coating and surface material.
For 0 mil to 250 mil Thick Coating—Kits with probes for 0-250 mil coating thickness are ideal for testing epoxies, flame-retardant finishes, and other thick coatings.

    Vertical Benchtop Optical Comparators

By projecting a magnified shadow or image of your part onto a screen, these optical comparators give you an easy way to measure and inspect its precise features. They work similarly to overhead projectors, but with fixed magnification to preserve proportions. Because of how easy they are to set up and use, they’re a staple in most machine shops. They shine light from above, so they’re best for inspecting flat parts, such as gaskets and O-rings. Unlike traditional optical comparators, these comparators are compact to fit easily on a benchtop.
To use these comparators, choose profile or surface lighting. Profile lighting creates a shadow of your part, which you can use to plot points for precise measurements. To plot each point, move the stage the part rests on until the point lines up with the crosshair on the projector screen. For precision, the stage moves in increments thinner than a sheet of paper. Surface lighting makes these comparators work like an illuminated magnifier, blanketing the part with even light to reveal scratches, dents, and other surface flaws.
Save the measurements you’ve gathered for later by exporting the data as a text file using an RS-232 cord (not included).

    Graphic Display Screen

Optical comparators with edge detection increase accuracy and efficiency by reducing human error. No need to identify each edge yourself with the crosshair—these comparators register whether they are passing over your object's shadow or a gap, such as a hole or cutout. The graphic display screen shows a visual representation of the part you’re measuring, making it easy to identify and measure specific features. To make sure each part is inspected the same way, create a program that guides anyone using the comparator on what steps to follow.
