Grounding Lugs for Enclosures

Create a common grounding path for not only internal components and circuits, but also your enclosure’s body. These lugs are used in hazardous locations to prevent static buildup on metal surfaces. They’re also common in telecommunications applications where static could damage components. To conduct electricity, they’re made of brass. They maintain a watertight seal with the enclosure thanks to their O-ring, which sits securely in a groove on the lug.

Grounding Snap-In Nuts

Pave a safe path for electricity—these snap-in nuts dig into the mounting surface and cut through coatings to touch the metal below for a proper ground. They’re often used to mount servers and other equipment into electronics racks. All meet EIA-310 (Electronic Industries Alliance) specifications for use in standard 19" electronics racks. Simply snap these nuts, also known as cage nuts, into square holes.

These snap-in nuts have a flexible nylon casing, so you can install them with a pinch. Unlike rigid snap-in nuts, you can squeeze them into a hole from either side. As you fasten a bolt, the nut in the casing is pulled up, pushing its teeth into the mounting surface.

Grounding Hex Head Screws

Green so you know they're for grounding, these screws secure electrical connections. The flange creates a solid, flat contact surface for reliable conductivity. If there isn't enough room to turn them with a wrench, slip a screwdriver into their slotted drive. When using a wrench or socket, the head's six flat sides prevent slipping and rounding off the drive.

Head height includes the flange. Length is measured from under the flange.

Low-Strength Fastener—Suitable for light duty applications, such as securing access panels. These screws have a tensile strength of 60,000 psi and lower.

Zinc-Plated Steel—A common choice for areas with occasional exposure to moisture.
