    About Sealants
    industrial info icon

Select a sealant that can stretch, contract, and expand enough for your joints.

    Submersible Sealants

These non-sagging sealants will not drip while hardening on vertical and overhead surfaces. They’re marine grade, so they stand up to water, corrosion from salt spray, mildew, and UV light.
Elongation and joint compression/expansion tolerance indicate flexibility—the higher the values are, the more joint movement sealants can sustain. Sealants that are good for joining dissimilar materials also work well in environments with wide temperature fluctuation.

Apply these sealants on wet surfaces and in cold temperatures. Thinner than non-sagging sealants, these flow easily into cracks and have a smooth finish.
Elongation and joint compression/expansion tolerance indicate flexibility—the higher the values are, the more joint movement sealants can sustain.
Begins to Harden in 3 min.—Sealants that begin to harden in 3 minutes are ideal for sealing pavement saw cuts made when installing buried sensing wires, also known as detector loops. You can walk or drive over the seams right away because they dry tack free within minutes.
Cannot Be Sold To—Sealants that cannot be sold to the listed areas exceed VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) regulations.

The strongest submersible sealants we offer, these combine the mechanical strength of an adhesive with excellent sealing properties and high flexibility. They’re marine grade, so they stand up to water, corrosion from salt spray, mildew, and UV light. Sealants are non-sagging, so they won't drip from vertical and overhead surfaces.
Elongation indicates flexibility—the higher the values are, the more sealants can stretch. These sealants are good for use between dissimilar materials and in environments with wide temperature fluctuation. For high-wear applications, choose a harder sealant for the most abrasion resistance.

Even when used underwater, these adhesives maintain their strength. Epoxies are the strongest and most chemical-resistant adhesives. They bond especially well on metal.
These epoxies come in two parts that need to be mixed. The container size listed is the combined total of the two parts.
Paste—Thicker than liquid adhesives but still spreadable—good for filling gaps and covering surfaces.
Putty—Slice off a chunk and mold it into the shape you need.
Thick Liquid—Flow into narrower gaps than gels and pastes, but thick enough to stay put on uneven surfaces.

    Optically Clear All-Weather Application Sealants

Image of Product. Front orientation. Sealants. Optically Clear All-Weather Application Sealants.
Clear enough to read through, this UV-resistant sealant allows optimal light transmission for use with solar cells and fiber optics. Apply it in cold temperatures, on wet surfaces, and even through running water. The sealant is non-sagging, so it won't drip from vertical and overhead surfaces. It cannot be sold to the regions listed due to local regulatory limits on VOC (volatile organic compounds).
Elongation indicates flexibility—the higher the value is, the more a sealant can stretch. This sealant is good for use between dissimilar materials and in environments with wide temperature fluctuation.

Optically Clear Two-Part Silicone Rubber Potting Compounds

Clear enough to read through, these UV-resistant potting compounds allow optimal light transmission for use with LEDs, solar cells, and fiber optics. Use them to encase electronic assemblies for protection from dust, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration. Softer and more flexible than epoxies and urethanes with the widest temperature range, these silicone rubber compounds are the best choice for high-temperature applications and electronics exposed to thermal cycling. They have excellent electrical insulation and good moisture resistance but poor chemical and abrasion resistance. Also known as RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing).
Bottle—Compounds in a bottle are easy to apply in high volumes. Just mix and pour them over components inside containers, such as potting boxes.
Gel—Gel compounds form a soft and flexible layer of protection. You can also remove them if you need to re-access your components. They are rated IP68 once potted, so they seal out water even if submersed.

Urethane Potting Compounds for Harsh Environments

Image of Product. Front orientation. Potting Compounds. Urethane Potting Compounds for Harsh Environments.
From shore to sea floor, these potting compounds are formulated for permanent submersion in water—even salt water. Use them to protect circuits and splices in pumps, underwater lighting, and other underwater electronics from corrosion and chemicals. Made of urethane, they withstand a wide range of temperatures, especially cold underwater conditions. They provide good electrical insulation and have excellent flexibility. Since they’re more flexible than epoxy compounds, they’re often used to protect against vibration and impact.
Mix the two parts of these compounds together and pour them over components inside a potting box or other container. If mixing causes air bubbles, put the mixture in a vacuum chamber to remove them.

    Submersible Anchoring Adhesives for Concrete

When concrete is saturated with or submerged in water, use these epoxies to permanently set threaded rods, studs, and rebar. They form a weather-resistant chemical bond that seals out moisture and resists vibration and dynamic loads better than mechanical anchors. Warning: Allowable pull-out strength is 25% of ultimate values or less, as required by building authorities. Use a mixer nozzle and dispensing gun (dispensing gun sold separately) to simultaneously mix and dispense adhesive.

Epoxy Potting Compounds for Harsh Environments

Image of Product. Front orientation. Potting Compounds. Epoxy Potting Compounds for Harsh Environments.
Tough enough to be permanently submersed in seawater, these compounds protect sensitive electronics, such as circuit boards, semiconductors, and sensors in harsh environments. They resist moisture, salt, and chemicals, so you can use them in corrosive oil, marine, and mining applications. These compounds can also be used within autoclaves. Because they are epoxies, they are rigid, resist wear, and create excellent electrical insulation. They withstand a wide range of temperatures, and this formulation won’t crack or split as components heat up and cool down.
They come in a cartridge, so you can apply them precisely. To dispense, they require a mixer nozzle and gun (both sold separately).

Take your time to precisely align parts, then create bonds that stay strong in humid and damp environments. These adhesives won't harden until you expose them to a compatible light source.
    Syringe—Apply with a dispensing gun.
Thick Liquid—Fill larger gaps than thin-liquid adhesives, so they're better for bonding slightly misaligned or uneven surfaces.

    Cartridge Potting Compounds

Make repairs or changes to electrical components after they’ve been potted. While most compounds are permanent, these form a gel that bonds to itself, so you can peel it off without damaging your equipment. Often used in junction boxes, they form a water- and dust-proof seal that’s rated IP68 while also providing excellent electrical insulation. Made of silicone rubber, they withstand a wide range of temperatures and are soft and flexible enough to resist shock and vibration. However, they’re not as strong as permanent potting compounds, so they don’t resist scrapes as well as those made of epoxy and urethane. They’re also not as chemical resistant as epoxy and urethane compounds.
These compounds won’t solidify once you open the container, so you have time to make adjustments when applying them. When removing them from your components, they mostly come off in one piece but there might be some residue left over.
Bottle Potting Compounds—Bottle compounds are a better choice for filling up new enclosures than cartridge compounds because you can pour more in at a time. They have a compartment for each component and require mixing.
Cartridge Potting Compounds—Cartridge compounds have a nozzle for precise application. The nozzle can also fit into junction box knockouts, so it’s easier to fill up installed enclosures than it is with bottle compounds. They come ready to use with no mixing required and no waiting time.

With excellent resistance to corrosive chemicals, these epoxies maintain bonds in tough conditions.
Epoxies are the strongest and most chemical-resistant structural adhesives. They bond especially well on metal. Choose an adhesive that hardens quickly for fast repairs, or one that hardens slowly to allow more time for positioning.
These adhesives come in two parts that need to be mixed. The container size listed is the combined total of the two parts.
Model Number E-120HP—Resist acetone, fuel, and oil. These adhesives also bond dissimilar materials and withstand rapid changes in temperature.
Model Number 9430—Resist fuel and hydraulic fluid.
Cartridge—To mix and dispense these adhesives, you'll need a mixer nozzle and dispensing gun.
Thick Liquid—Flow into narrower gaps than gels and pastes, but thick enough to stay put on uneven surfaces.
