Thick-Wall Plastic Pipe Fittings for Water

Connect these fittings to Schedule 80 pipe. With thicker, stronger walls than standard-wall fittings, they can handle heavy duty supply applications, such as water processing, wastewater treatment, and irrigation. Fittings are plastic for good corrosion resistance. They meet ASTM specifications and testing requirements for material quality.

To prevent leaks in threaded connections, apply a sealant to the male threads. Threaded connections can be taken apart as needed for maintenance and repair. For metal threads, use PTFE tape. For plastic threads, apply a non-hardening, plastic-compatible sealant. Tape or sealants with PTFE are not recommended for plastic-to-plastic connections. When making a threaded connection be careful not to overtighten the threads. To prevent cracks and leaks, finger tighten the fitting, then wrench-tighten one to two turns.

Warning: Never use plastic pipe fittings, flanges, and pipe with compressed air or gas.

Note: For fittings that are not rated for pressure, you can use the pressure rating of the plastic pipe as a reference. Threaded fittings are limited to 50% of the rated pressure of the pipe.

Flame-Retardant High-Purity PVDF Pipe Fittings for Harsh Chemicals

Made of PVDF that’s finished to a 12 Ra smoothness, these fittings handle some of the harshest chemicals without leaching contaminants into your line. They won’t accumulate particles and are easy to clean, thanks to their smoothness. Comparable to Kynar, these fittings handle most organic solvents that would dissolve CPVC, and chlorine or nitric acid that would weaken polypropylene. You can use them at higher temperatures than CPVC and polypropylene. These fittings meet UL 94 V-0 and FM standards for flame retardance. They’re also FDA compliant for direct contact with food, and they meet ASTM requirements for dimensions and tolerances.

Connect them to pipe with socket fusion welding for a strong, permanent bond. Use a socket fusion tool with a heater bushing (sold separately) that matches your pipe size. To prevent leaks in threaded connections, apply a sealant to the male threads. Threaded connections can be taken apart as needed for maintenance and repair. For metal threads, use PTFE tape. For plastic threads, apply a non-hardening, plastic-compatible sealant. Tape or sealants with PTFE are not recommended for plastic-to-plastic connections. When making a threaded connection be careful not to overtighten the threads. To prevent cracks and leaks, finger tighten the fitting, then wrench-tighten one to two turns.

Warning: Never use plastic pipe fittings, flanges, and pipe with compressed air or gas.

Stub-End Straight Adapters

Stub-end straight adapters are used with flanges. Slide a flange onto the stub end and weld the stub end to pipe (not the flange). Since the flange isn’t welded to the pipe, it can be disconnected easily, which creates an access point for frequent cleaning and inspecting.

Flame-Retardant PVDF Pipe Fittings for Harsh Chemicals

These fittings meet UL 94 V-0 for flame retardance, so they delay the spread of flames to valuable equipment. They are made of PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), which is comparable to Kynar, and has the chemical resistance to stand up to solvents and other harsh substances. Also known as Schedule 80 fittings, they have thick walls for heavy duty chemical processing applications. Fittings meet ASTM D3222 specifications and testing requirements for material quality.

Low-Pressure Stainless Steel Press-Socket Pipe Fittings

Press these fittings onto stainless steel pipe using a crimping tool for a permanent, leak-tight connection that's faster than threading or welding and doesn't require heat. Fittings have an internal stainless steel gripping ring and rubber O-ring that create a seal when crimped. They are designed to leak if fittings have not been crimped; a colored dot marks the leak path so it's easy to spot unsealed connections. All of these fittings are made of 304 stainless steel to resist corrosion from frequent exposure to water and fuels. They’re often used for water processing lines, heating and cooling systems, and fuel lines. They are comparable to Viega MegaPress fittings. An internal gripping ring and rubber O-ring create a secure seal when crimped. They are designed to leak if fittings have not been crimped; a colored dot marks the leak path so it's easy to spot unsealed connections. These steel fittings are coated in zinc-nickel to resist corrosion, but will rust if frequently exposed to saltwater or harsh chemicals. They are comparable to Viega MegaPress steel fittings. Fittings meet ASME B31 code requirements for use in pressure piping systems.

Union fittings separate into three pieces so you can access your line without unthreading pipe connections.

Zinc-Plated Steel—Zinc-plated steel fittings have better corrosion resistance than plain steel fittings.

Buna-N O-Ring—Buna-N rubber O-rings hold up to natural gas, propane, diesel fuel, lubricants, and other oils. Fittings with these O-rings are often used in fuel gas systems and air lines. They meet the ANSI LC4/CSA 6.32 standard for fuel gas systems and comply with the International Fuel Gas Code.

EPDM O-Ring—Fittings with an EPDM rubber O-ring are often used for water processing lines, fire sprinklers, and heating and cooling systems. EPDM rubber won’t degrade when exposed to water, ethylene glycol, and propylene glycol. These fittings meet UL 213 and FM 1920 standards for use in fire protection systems.
