Compare sensing types, mounting styles, wiring options, and input and output requirements to choose the right proximity sensor for your application.

DC Metallic-Object Proximity Sensors for Robotic Welding

Check the position of your torch or workpiece for accuracy during robotic welding. These sensors are robust enough to handle changes in temperature and magnetic fields from welding to help reduce false triggers. A coating prevents weld spatter buildup to keep readings accurate and maximizes the sensing distance Also known as inductive proximity sensors, they’ll detect metallic objects even if they’re obscured by water, oil, dirt, or a surface finish.
To determine the signal output of a sensor you are replacing, use Testers for Proximity and Photoelectric Sensors (not included).

Round sensors are threaded, making for a quick installation. They have an M12 connection for simple wiring.
Flush Mount—Flush sensors, also known as embeddable or shielded sensors, can be mounted so that the sensor face is level with the surface of any material, including metal. They’re more accurate than projecting sensors at close range and can be mounted close together without causing interference.
Projecting Mount—Projecting sensors, also known as non-embeddable or unshielded sensors, must be mounted with the area around the sensor face free of metal. They have a longer sensing distance than flush sensors with the same diameter.

Flat-Body sensors can be easily mounted to flat surfaces. They are prewired with a M12 cable. PTFE insulation on the cable prevents weld spatter from building up along its length.
Flush Mount—Flush sensors, also known as embeddable or shielded sensors, can be mounted so that the sensor face is level with the surface of any material, including metal. They’re more accurate than projecting sensors at close range and can be mounted close together without causing interference.
