Machine Tool Wire

- Use for panel and equipment (hook-up)
- Flexible
- Temperature Range:
Stranded Wire: 0° to 190° F
Metric Stranded Wire: -40° to 220° F - Insulation: PVC Plastic
More flexible than standard wire, this wire is often used for internal appliance wiring. The strand count is the number of strands followed by the size of the individual strand. The higher the number of strands, the more flexible the wire. Also known as MTW wire, it’s rated UL 1063 for machine tool wiring.
Metric wire is also known as Harmonized European Wire and meets HAR H07V-K for size (mm²), material, and voltage. It can also be used on North American electrical panels and machines.

Abrasion-Resistant Wire

- Use for panel and equipment (hook-up)
- Wire with FEP Plastic Insulation: Flexible
Wire with Silicone Rubber Insulation: Ultra Flexible - Temperature Range:
Wire with FEP Plastic Insulation: -90° to 390° F
Wire with Silicone Rubber Insulation: -40° to 300° F
A thick insulation withstands abrasion, so this wire can be used over rough surfaces. It’s also known as hook-up wire.
Wire with FEP insulation resists chemicals. Wire with silicone rubber insulation is ultra-flexible for use in applications that require tight turns. It also withstands moisture.
Flame rated wire meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test; VW-1 wire is suspended vertically during testing, and FT2 wire is suspended horizontally during testing.

Ultra-High-Voltage Wire

- Use for panel and equipment (hook-up)
- Flexible
- Temperature Range: -40° to 300° F
- Insulation: Silicone Rubber
Use this wire in high-voltage applications, such as in high-power signs and lasers. It’s also known as corona-resistant hook-up wire. Made of silicone rubber, the insulation resists abrasion. It’s flame rated VW-1 to meet requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test with vertically suspended material.
Building Wire
- Use for buildings
- Stranded Wire: Flexible
Solid Wire: Bend and Stay - Temperature Range:
Wire with Nylon Outer Insulation: -10° to 190° F
Wire with Polyethylene Outer Insulation: -40° to 190° F
Install this wire in conduit and cable trays in commercial and industrial buildings. It's also known as branch circuit wire.
Solid wire bends and stays in the position that you bend it. It’s easier to terminate than stranded wire.
Wire with a nylon outer insulation resists oil and water. THHN wire can be used in dry or damp locations where wire is exposed to condensation or moisture, such as a basement. THWN and THWN-2 wire can be used in both wet and dry environments.
Flame rated VW-1 wire meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test with vertically suspended material.
