Steel Blade—Steel blades are stronger than stainless steel blades, but can rust over time and shouldn’t be used in sterile or corrosive environments.
Stainless Steel Blade—Stainless steel blades are more corrosion resistant than steel blades and can be sterilized.
10—#10 blades are the most commonly used scalpel blades for simple, straight cuts.
11—#11 blades have an extra-fine tip similar to X-ACTO blades. Use them for precise cuts around intricate shapes or to make small punctures.
12—#12 blades are curved so rope, twine, and cord won't slip while you cut them.
15—#15 blades have a short cutting edge for making small, curved cuts.
20—#20 blades and higher are extra large, so long cuts take less time.
Cannot Be Sold to Canada—Blades that cannot be sold to Canada do not meet import regulations.

Slice and pierce fabric, paper, and other thin materials, then discard these scalpels when you’re done. All have a stainless steel blade that resists corrosion and can be sterilized.
Style A—Style A scalpels are made from a single piece of stainless steel. They’re stronger than scalpels with a plastic handle, so you can cut with more force.
Style C—Style C scalpels have a short, wide handle that you can grip with your thumb and index finger for a secure hold.
10—#10 blades are the most common scalpel blades. Use them for simple, straight cuts.
11—#11 blades have an extra-fine tip that’s similar to X-ACTO blades. Use them for precise cuts around intricate shapes or to make small punctures.
12—#12 blades are curved so rope, twine, and cord won't slip while you cut them.
15—#15 blades have a short cutting edge for making small, curved cuts.
21—#21 blades are the same shape as #10 blades, but they’re larger, so you can make long cuts more quickly.
Cannot Be Sold to Canada—Scalpels that cannot be sold to Canada do not meet import regulations.
