Buffing and Polishing Compounds

Remove scratches, oxidation, and other surface imperfections from your workpiece. Apply a layer of compound by holding these bars against a revolving buffing wheel or polishing bob. Microns are approximate.
Most buffing processes have two steps, cutting and coloring.
1. Cutting removes scratches and imperfections.
2. Coloring produces an even finish.
Cutting/coloring compounds perform both steps at once.

Polishing Bob and Compound Kits

Everything you need to polish small areas and hard-to-reach spots. These kits include polishing bobs in different shapes, sizes, and hardness ratings, along with buffing compounds. Use these bobs in a drill or grinder for bits and burs.
Most buffing processes have two steps, cutting and coloring.
1. Cutting removes scratches and surface imperfections.
2. Coloring produces an even finish.
Wool Felt—These bobs absorb and retain compounds better than synthetic felt bobs, so you don't need to reapply as often.
Synthetic Felt—These bobs have more pores than wool felt. For soft and medium bobs, the pores make the head squishy for squeezing into small spaces. For hard and extra hard bobs, the pores dissipate heat during aggressive polishing to extend the bobs’ life and prevent damage to your workpiece.
Soft—Create the finest finish and polish delicate materials.
Medium—Balance removing material with leaving a smooth finish.
Hard—For aggressive material removal.
Extra Hard—The most aggressive material removal. These bobs are also good for hard materials.
